✝️ The Sacrament of Holy Orders
Holy Orders is the sacrament through which men are ordained as deacons, priests, or bishops to serve Christ and His Church. Through this sacred calling, they are empowered to preach the Gospel, celebrate the sacraments, and shepherd God’s people with love and dedication.
At St. Mary’s Parish, Hagersville, we rejoice in the men God calls to serve His Church and invite parishioners to support and pray for vocations to the priesthood and diaconate. 🙏
🌿 What is Holy Orders?
Holy Orders is the sacrament by which Christ continues His priestly, prophetic, and pastoral mission in the Church through ordained ministers.
Deacons assist in service, charity, and proclamation of the Word.
Priests act in persona Christi to celebrate sacraments, teach, and shepherd the faithful.
Bishops are successors of the Apostles, entrusted with teaching, governing, and sanctifying a diocese.
🕊️ Who can receive Holy Orders?
Only baptized men are eligible.
Candidates must demonstrate faithful commitment, maturity, and a deep call from God.
Requirements differ for diaconate, priesthood, and episcopacy, as established by the Church.
The discernment process includes prayer, spiritual direction, theological education, and pastoral formation.
